When you wake up in the morning, and feel like you are dragging.
You may stretch with a big yawn and/or even check your phone to try to wake yourself up.
But did you know that if you wake up and stretch it could wake up your entire body.
The exercise that serves you up a boost of energy without caffeine is also very simple.
It is touching your toes. Yep! Simple enough.
Here is how:
- Stand up
- Take a deep inhale while lifting your hands above your head
- Then exhale and fold forward from the waist to touch your toes. *If you cannot touch your toes, then just reach as far as you can. With continued practice you will be able to touch your toes.
- Repeat step 1 through 3 several times. *Please proceed with caution if you suffer with knee pain or back pain.
When you lay and sleep at night; additional fluid tends to distribute especially around the joints.
This stretch is meant to increase your blood flow. By folding forward to touch your toes, your are allowing the fluids around your spine to start flowing.
Bending and touching your toes, will help release tension and stress which could contributes to back pain. As I added bonus the motion can help reduce fat around the abdominal area. You will also see an improvement with your flexibility.
Your spine is just as important as your breathe.
So bend your knees if you must; but for your joints and spine sake make sure you touch your toes when you wake up.
